Final E.O.C.

When I first started this class, I didn’t exactly know what to expect from it. Sure, I’ve heard stories from previous students but that was mainly hear-say and just going based on someone else’s opinion(s). I was anticipating it to most likely just be comprised of how to just make sales through the online media. At the end of the quarter, I find that it really was more than that, by far. The class greatly gave us a very good understanding of what marketing online was really about and what the best methods of it were. Before, I thought that marketing online was mainly just posting an image online with a price-tag and waiting for the money to roll in for you. Now, I find that it really, greatly gets more involved than that. We learned how and what the best methods of getting your users more involved in what you were presenting to them online and how to really make a name for yourself that would keep them coming back to what you were presenting to them. The required text for the class was a really great read as well and greatly gave us a better understanding of it all as well. The thing that made it so great is that it was comprised of writings from several different people within the field and what they found to be the most important to share with those that would read it. Along with all of that, this class really gave me a better understanding of what and how to make what was going to be online for this field I am entering. This class really gave me a lot and I will be sure to keep it all in mind with what I do after I finish this Degree.

Given all of that, it makes sense to give ourselves our own evaluations regarding what we did for the class. I was sure that I was always in class and that I always did the work that was assigned to us. I kept up with the E.O.C.’s and did the in-class assignments. I could have done a little better for the projects done outside of class but in the long run, I do believe that I deserve a B+, if not an A-. That is what I feel I should obtain after everything I did this quarter for the class.

Week 09 E.O.C. Jimmy D. Brown Mastering E-Mail Marketing

“Everything about what you are going to do online is directly related to your list. And everything you do online should, in some way, work toward building and perfecting your list.” (p. 192). This really seems to be a great, and powerful, message to keep in mind while you go about creating, maintaining, and keeping an online business to make things easier and work in your favor. To succeed, I can see that all of us should considering making lists to keep a clean record of our target market. The more we do online as far as marketing goes seems like it would greatly help us with building and perfecting our lists. We would collect the essential information that would be needed to build an overall database of the people we are marketing to which, in the long run, would make it much easier for us to be able to pick out the proper people to market to depending on the projects and know who would be the most likely to respond to our efforts. It clearly would take a great amount of time but nothing really comes all that easy and in a snap when you’re trying to build the proper database to make your marketing plans. You really do have to take the time to really get to know and understand who you are marketing to and build that relationship that would really work out to favor of both parties involved. So be sure that everything you do online has some relation to your lists to make your job a more, hassle-free one.

Week 08 E.O.C. Chris Murch eBay-The World’s Online Marketplace

“There is no magic formula for selling on eBay. Successful selling on eBay requires the combination of a proven track record (high feedback ratings from the eBay community); superior, professional listings that stand out from the competition; along with trial and error.” (p. 141). This passage seems to go on and inform us what really needs to be known when it comes to selling goods on eBay; it all greatly deals with how you are, not what you sell. Sure, you can sell the great thing that would appear to be a must-have for everyone but if you tend to demonstrate and offer poor service with rather low ratings in regards to you, you are not likely to run a successful market through eBay. Making it so that you really stand out from others on eBay that are offering/selling the same products as you is a very good way to go about it and would really show who you can be. If everyone else has a page that just seems “thrown” together at the last minute but has no appeal, along with low feedback ratings, the chances seem rather high that they really don’t have that much to offer and that it just might not be the best. Being sure that you make the effort to stand out and making yourself look really professional with top quality products should really make you a respected seller on eBay. This is how I am viewing this passage and how I see eBay should really be done in today’s society. So do your best to make it seem like you are running a business and not like you were just bored and want to make some money fast.

Week 08 E.O.C. John Paul Mendocha Speed Selling on the Internet

“You can have the greatest products in the world, the most advanced ideas, the highest quality Internet experience, the best customer service, but without sales, it all goes to waste.” (p. 124). This seems to state what really needs to be paid the most attention to with the greatest amount of detail when it comes to marketing yourself and what you sale online with today’s community. It clearly states and demonstrates that even though you may, or can, have all of those assets at your disposals to show off just who you are or can be with the online community to really get your name out there to be known with all they may find you, you’re really not doing that much for yourself if you’re not making any sales. It would seem more like you’re just trying to show off and blow up your ego if your just doing all of that without making any sales or connecting with your viewers to establish a relationship with them that would drive them back to your site and really gives them something in return. All of those things can be established in the long run and/or during the process but being able to make your sales online is what would really make you successful within the online community. Don’t just think about it in terms of being like a used-car salesmen and try to find what would give you the powerful edge to be able to connect with your viewers and make your sales. That is what I am really getting from this brief passage of this chapter.

Week 07 E.O.C. Jim Black Building Your Business Using Audio, Web, and Video Conferencingl

“Today’s small and large businesses must take one leap ahead by employing cost-effective strategies that well save them time, money, and energy while reaching their potential and current customer base. Audio and Web solutions are the answer.” (p. 117). This really seems to play a rather big part as far as marketing appears to be in this day and age now. Yeah, you can present images and text online but there will surely come those times when using a little Audio could really help you make your sales or point your customers in the right direction. It could be a brief audio clip that plays a sound-bite of customer satisfaction of what was bought and the service they received or it could be a slight beep to let them know that they may have moused over something that really should be paid attention to. This would save them time of having to hunt it down (be it feedback of satisfaction or where to look), you money for having to create all of the promotions, and energy for both parties on account of bringing some ease to both. Combing Audio with the Web seems like a great idea to keep in mind as you go about conducting and doing your business. This is how I see this being important and why it is needed to be known for the way business and marketing seems to be held in today’s society.

Week 07 E.O.C. Rob Bell How to Automate Your Online Marketing

“The benefits of automation are so numerous you can’t afford to ignore them. Automate your online efforts correctly and you’ll reap the rewards. The primary benefit of “hands-free” marketing is selling to your customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” (p. 106). This clearly seems to pinpoint exactly what should be considered with online businesses, to me. Having something that’s “hands-free” at your side clearly would be a great benefit because you would really be able to serve your customers needs all the time, as stated in this passage. You would not have to worry about being with your at all hours of the day or night and it would still be taken care of. If are able to learn the correct ways to go about obtaining an automated system for your site, it seems like it really, and clearly, would be able to bring many rewards your way with far less the hassle it would take if you were to go about it without having one at hand to help you with your business online. Being able to offer your services and make sales online with such a system really would make it clear that you know how things should be done in the online environment and that, in turn, should provide you with some much needed respect and trust from your clients and customers that frequent your site; given, of course, you go about it the correct way. This is how I see this brief snippet from the chapter.

Week 04 E.O.C. Alex Mandossian Traffic Conversion Secrets

“The traffic answers how your e-marketing works. So whereas the principle is why it works, the tactic or technique is how it specifically works, and unfortunately, the single biggest difference between a principle and tactic is endurance.” (p. 95). It seems to me that this passage is talking about the main, key-point about e-marketing that is to be greatly considered. We mainly need to focus on the tactics we use to direct online traffic to our website and to make them want to stay there. Using this tactic, or technique, is a great way to get our names out there but it all really, clearly depends on how we go about it. Keeping in mind what has been discussed in previous chapters is a great way to go about it as well and really would pay off to our advantage. We do need to be sure that we do as much to really sell what we our presenting to the market and really get them involved in what we our try to sell them and really bring that trust from them. Using the proper headlines to point them into the right direction that we want them to go is another great thing to consider as far as online marketing can go. Given all of that, it becomes clear why endurance plays a key factor in it all and it really brings to mind everything that really, truly needs to be consider with everything that is don on the web.

Week 06 E.O.C. Identify path of final project

The way I see it seems to be one that can decipher and pinpoint the proper criteria needed for our final project. We should (and will) be able to collect the information that is needed to determine all demographics to be considered for marketing in the film franchise. We would develop ads that would direct the user to another page with an ad that would draw their attention and entice them to continue on and provide a little more information about themselves; be it age, location, family size, etc. Given that, we would be able to hold on to that information for future reference to keep in mind who to target for the next big film that will come out and who would enjoy what we would have to offer. It makes it very easy in that aspect but we would know that we wouldn’t have to, or need to, solicit the next big “dating” or “family” film for the younger crowd or those with a family to the elderly people with no children. We would know who would enjoy what we have to offer and wouldn’t have to concern ourselves with trying to market to those who would pay much attention (if at all) to what we are trying to advertise and invite people to. Seems like a vast string to go through, from one ad to another while collecting the information that is needed, but it wouldn’t greatly be to our benefit along with the benefit to the people we are trying to market to in the long run. This is how I see our final project should be done.

Midterm E.O.C.

I would like to take the time to evaluate class thus far. A lot was involved for this course and I do feel like there was much that needed to be put into this class as well as the projects that were required, at times. However, I still pushed myself the best I could to put in a worthy effort and make sure that I gave it my all. There were a lot of accounts for many social networking sites that needed to be made and I did create them. I could have done better with some of the projects that were assigned but that was mainly due to some complications that occurred and were beyond my control. I still tried to recreate the projects that fell through the best I could but was unable to duplicate what was created before the complications ensued. I do feel like I have learned much from this class and seems well worth the money for the course. Much experience and knowledge was gain from this course and I’ll be sure to keep it in mind after I am done with this. With everything I’ve learned from this class, along with the required text and what is still to be learned, I feel that this class will greatly prepare me for what awaits me in the work-force with this degree that I am in the midst of. I believe that I have earned a B on account of my complications for this course thus far and will do my best to push myself to obtain an A.

Week 04 E.O.C. David Garfinkel The Magical Power of Headlines

“Headlines can make a tremendous difference in the dollars-and-cents effectiveness of any piece of copy. Changes in a headline can easily double and triple closing rates. I know one marketer who claims he increased his sales on the same ad 18 times just by changing the headline!” (p. 77). This one really seems like a great point and concept to keep in mind because it is very true. Headlines really do make all the difference and can easily make, or break, a sale. It is very important that you create the best headline you can that would clearly draw attention to what needs be noticed and therefore, make it easy for the viewers to find the keep points that would need the most attention. Headlines really make it hassle free to find what is being sought after for and making it that much easier for your visitors would cause them to believe that you know and are aware of how things should be done; which would earn you some respect in their minds. Knowing how to create a great, attention-grabbing headline would also make it seem like you were looking at it through their eyes and knowing what resonates with them would then create a certain type of connection with your visitors that you know who they are and what they are looking for. That type of interpersonal connection with your visitors can really make a tremendous difference with how you present yourself online and how you can be viewed. It’s always the small details that really get you and can define who you are with just about everything that you develop and display online for others to see, I believe.

Week 04 E.O.C. Maria Veloso The Seduction of the Online Surfer

“Involvement devices are devices used to get people “involved” with your sales copy. They magnetize people to read every word of your copy. Getting your Web site visitors to read your copy is Job 1 if your objective is to sell them something.” (p. 60) This seems to be a very good thing and concept to know about when it comes to online marketing in this day and age. It really is important that you do your best to get people “involved” in what you are presenting to them online and really give them that interaction and feeling of engaging in something great. Once they feel that they have obtained a connection with your site, by any means that really make them feel like they are taking part in something with the site, than they would not feel uninterested in what you are presenting to them. Giving them that feeling would give them a reason to return to your site and really giving them something great to read each time they visit will be sure to start forming you a strong following of those that would visit your site frequently. If you are then successfully able to provide good copy for them to read when they visit your site, than you would be able to have an easier task of being able to sell them something since you’ve made them so involved with your site. It seems like the connection you make with visitors to your site really is what needs to be paid attention to the most if you really are trying to seduce online viewers to keep returning to your site and, in turn, make your sales to the online community. This is how I see this passage.

Week 03 E.O.C. Yank Silver Writing Web Copy That Sells

“Writing great Web copy is a lot like writing a great sales letter. And this is going to sound a bit unusual, but one of the best ways to learn how to write a great sales letter is to read a lot of sales letters by others who promote via direct mail and on the Web. Whenever you see one that really resonates with you, one that you really love and makes you want to buy, even if you know you can’t afford it, but it makes you want to buy the product, it’s a winner!” (p. 42) This seems like a very great thing to hear about and consider when it comes to writing your copy for the Web. Not many have taken a course when it comes to copy-writing, I’m sure, so they would be rather unaware of how to properly do this on the Web for online marketing. They do seem to imply that some research would be involved but that does stand to be the first step in many things so it should be no surprise that they recommend that you do it here as well. It is also implied that through your research, you would find that one sales letter that really resonates with you and that you should keep in mind how it was done and presented. They specify that one that really makes you want to buy, even if you can’t afford it, is a winner to hold onto. That does make sense because if you end up holding onto it, by the time you do get the money, you’ll remember what it was you wanted to buy. It is important to do your best to create that type of copy (print or Web) and being able to make copy that stands out like that really should help you stand out from the vast, online crowd.

Week 03 E.O.C. Marlon Sanders Building Your Online Brand

“For all the bells and whistles of Internet marketing, technology marketing, and direct response marketing, I really think it comes down to something really simple. Whatever they’re buying, you’re selling. In other words, your job is to not take a product and ram it down peoples’ throats. Your job, and sometimes the challenge, is to find out what people want to buy, and not only allow them to buy it from you, but give them a unique, sustainable advantage for doing so.” (p. 37) It seems like this is a very good concept to keep in mind, in my opinion. If we just try to push a product onto people to purchase, whether they need (or know about) it or not, it would make it seem like we were no different from the usual Car Salesman trying to push sales and make commission. Taking the time learn about what it is that the people you market to want to buy would give you a better understanding of the people you’re trying to market to and would seem to give you that personal connection with them. You would see, and understand, what it is they’re looking for and know the reasons why their looking for it and that would give you a better idea on how to market it. That can be quite the challenge all in itself but it does seem like it would be a worthy effort. When the customers see that you’re offering what it is that they are looking for, and you’ve made that reliable connection, it seems like you really would be going the right way as far as online marketing can go. To me, this is what this passage is trying to get across to the readers on how to better themselves with online marketing.

Week 02 E.O.C. Jay Conrad Levinson Guerrilla Marketing Online and Offline

“People have to remember the fourth most important reason people go onto a web site is to buy things. The first most important reason is to get information, so he intrigues them enough that they want more information.” (p. 26) It seems that this is a good concept to keep in mind with what this chapter talks about. Of course, a great majority of the people who go online and surf the web tend to be those that enjoy shopping for just about anything and everything online. These people would most likely be those that would be referred to as Shut-Ins by many; people who never like to leave the house. Along with those, it would also be comprised of those with extremely busy schedules and have little time for shopping, along with those who are looking for any type of hard to find items. To adhere to all that fit any, or all, of those types of people, it would be vastly important to provide the proper information about what is being sold; be it items or services. If you provide them with information that intrigues them, it seems like it would be logical that it would then entice them to want look up more information about that and providing more information that is accurate where it’s being sold, it would keep them there longer and would lead them to making that purchase with you. Ultimately, if you keep this in mind with what you do online, it would seem that you would be your own sales representative and, of course, you would want to educate them and make your sales while making it so that they would be wanting more.

Week 02 E.O.C. Robert Allen Creating Multiple Streams of Income on the Internet

“Online is the most profitable way for launching your business. It may take you a little while to figure it out because it’s a little bit of a different animal than traditional business. But once you figure out how you make your online presence successful, then you have the best of all worlds” (p. 12) To me, it seems like this is a definite concept to keep in mind when it comes to Web Marketing. I have been told many times by many people that there are many ways to make a great big bulk of money from doing business online and that it does require a large amount, yet not as much as some would believe it to be, effort to get it started doing so. Of course, being a relatively new way to go about it would require some time to get it all down and figured out to make sure that you can make a valuable profit and income while doing it the right way that pays attention to all stakes at hand regarding what’s needed. There are those that don’t really understand how to go about it all and do it so, of course, it is important to know how to do so. Once you get that aspect of it and taken care of, it seems as though it would be fairly easy to get the revenue streaming in with the best of all worlds after you can and make your presence successful online. To me, this is why this statement seems to be a good concept to keep in mind and these are my reasons why, since it appears to show what could be expected if you get it all done the correct way.

Week 01 E.O.C.Mark Victor Hansen The Million Dollar Mindset

"Marketing is the ability to effectively reach out to a customer and offer them your product, your service, your personality, your information. This is called Information Entrepreneurship, which is the best of all possible businesses." (p. 3) For me, this seems to illustrate a strong basis on what Marketing should really be about and consider including within its efforts. Presenting the product along with the service is a great way to get things started in the Marketing realm. It really makes it clear on who the Marketer is and references what they set out to do and provide for their clients. Having the personality and information at hand along with it seems to really personalize who is doing the marketing and let's clients be well aware of whom they are dealing with. Having that kind of information at hand about your Marketer is a valuable asset to have at first hand and great show that you are one to be trusted; given that the information displays a trustworthy image. It is important to keep these concepts in mind and to provide what is needed to be known for the clients to let them know that they are dealing with someone that really knows how things should go and what is needed to be known about the business to provide the best Marketing that can be offered. This Is my take on this passage.
